Û Û While investigating reports of unlawful weapons trafficking, Û Û
Û Û peacekeeping forces encountered an unclassified carnivorous Û Û
Û Û species occupying a small village in Northern Africa. These Û Û
Û Û rabid creatures were easily provoked and resistant to Û Û
Û Û conventional attack. Eight specimens were encountered in the Û Û
Û Û region now referred to as "Ground:ALPHA"... Only four were Û Û
Û Û successfully contained for study. Victims of the attack were Û Û
Û Û quarantined at a research facility nearby. These victims Û Û
Û Û displayed signs of internal liquefaction and accelerated Û Û
Û Û necrosis, similar to symptoms of other flesh-eating viruses Û Û
Û Û native to that region. Û Û

Û Û But it wasn't a viral outbreak. It was a parasitic Û Û
Û Û infestation. A previously unidentified species of hook worm Û Û
Û Û was found beneath the skin of the Ground: ALPHA specimens. Û Û
Û Û These parasites, we call them "Alpha-worms", laid dozens of Û Û
Û Û eggs inside their hosts, which in turn produced numerous Û Û
Û Û larvae. These larvae penetrated the bloodstream and triggered Û Û
Û Û a variety of genetic failures. However, unlike most genetic Û Û
Û Û failures, these symptoms were not fatal. Instead, infested Û Û
Û Û victims were larger, stronger… and driven by hunger. Using the Û Û
Û Û research gained from the Ground: ALPHA specimens, a team of Û Û
Û Û some special individuals were assembled. Minor outbreaks Û Û
Û Û occurred over the next few years, but elite squad quickly put Û Û
Û Û them down. Which brings us to the current situation in Û Û
