Legend of Princess | Platform | 9 MB | English
by Joakim Sandberg
You get to step into the shoes of a tunic-wearing hero on a quest to rescue a kidnapped princess. There are plenty of memorable boss encounters to be had here. Could it be some relative of Link, a secret brother of him? It is a kind of love letter to Zelda, my personal favorite game series, both from nostalgia and its often great design. The Legend of Zelda-franchise is obviously a NINTENDO-copyrighted franchise, and this game, while admittedly trying to be like a bootleg Zelda, should not be sold etc., but that goes without saying.
The game features fast action, lovely hand-pixelated graphics, clever boss fights, and over-the-top effects. On top of that, there’s a pretty nifty gameplay mechanic where you choose Li—er, the main character’s items (a jump item and ranged weapon) before starting the game. This affects the difficulty as well as how you overcome the game’s various obstacles.
Note that the game has only one playable level, although arcade veterans could technically replay the entire adventure at a higher difficulty setting by choosing a different set of starting equipment with each new try. Also, the chances of getting a rare blue or red gem increases if you defeat more enemies and avoid getting hurt too frequently.

I included this report because the author of the game mentions that there may be false positives with the AVG Anti Virus Scanner.
